The CardioShowroom (CSR) is a medically accurate, fully 3D animated, multilingual training and presentation tool. It displays an aesthetic and interactive heart model that was developed by cardiologists for the medical community. Cardiac anatomy, functions, diseases and therapies are visually and interactively displayed.
Physicians using this state-of-the-art tool for consultation, education and/or illustration purposes can enhance their patients understanding of complex cardiovascular disease and treatment options as well as overcome language barriers.
The benefits of using the CSR in further areas of application:
- for patient education seminars, an excellent grasp of complex medical interrelationships is quickly made possible, often for the first time.
- for doctor-patient consultations, the CSR provides a platform to greatly improve not only the patient’s understanding of the disease and upcoming intervention, but also the treatment risks involved. The CardioShowroom displays which complications can arise during an intervention. Comprehensible texts and modern 3D visualizations offer better support during patient consultation than words, drawings or pictures. The CSR increases a patients understanding of the medical intervention (surgery/intervention/ablation).
- for consultation appointments in the heart failure outpatient clinics, valve outpatient clinics and rhythm outpatient clinics, the CSR enables a high level of understanding.
- for education and training of medical staff, nurses, MTAs, medical students and young physicians, CSR provides support.
- for employees in the medical technology industry, CSR is used for the presentation and explanation of products and complex therapies.
- and much more.

HOW DOES A HEALTHY HEART WORK?
Interactive animations illustrate the functions of the healthy heart:
- the pump function
- the blood circulation
- the heart rhythm and
- the flap function
One click opens the heart and the blood vessels, valve structure and excitation conduction system become visible. The visualization and understandable texts explain how the healthy heart works.
WHAT DOES A SICK HEART LOOK LIKE?
Diseases and typical disease progressions are also shown. From the four categories of cardiovascular diseases:
- Coronary heart disease (circulatory disorders)
- Cardiac arrhythmias (palpitations, heart palpitations, etc.)
- Structural heart disease (valve defects, shunts, etc.)
- Heart failure (cardiac insufficiency)
the most common diseases can be systematically selected. The corresponding, typical disease courses can be seen and are accompanied by an explanatory animation.
HOW DO YOU CURE A DISEASED HEART?
The app shows various treatment options for diseases. You can see the effects of both established and novel treatment methods. For example, the app shows how a closed artery can be reopened using catheter technology in the event of a heart attack.
In the case of a narrowed aortic valve – the valve affected by calcification is dilated and then a biological aortic valve prosthesis is released.
